I’ll be brief. The educational bar is not high in the industry of residential real estate. A large percentage of the industry simply have a high school education. Although there are quick workshops for licensees to increase their knowledge, few take advantage of them. The courses are never difficult and basically its similar to auditing course. The student is not responsible to learn anything because there is never a test to prove competency. The continuing education requirements for most agents are minimal at best. In some states its as few as 8 hours a year. Its amazing to me when I see doctors, lawyers, businessmen rely on the advice of someone who lacks basic real estate knowledge.
