The elephant in the room is the major association that most real estate agents are members. Their lobby is big. Every year thousands of agents provide donations with their dues to its political action committee. As a buyer or seller, if you think your the little guy, you better think again. Your not even at microscopic level. This group is set to keep the status quo and protect the interests of its members: the agents, not YOU the consumer. In a August 16, 2004 Slate.com article by Douglas Gantenbein entitled: “Realty Bites: Why do you still need an agent to buy a home?” Mr. Gantebein discusses upstart discount brokers such as ZipRealty. Because their business models have been so successful that it appears to be a threat to the status quo. So the group, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named are looking putting a few roadblocks to keep ZipRealty and others from providing the type of services that would benefit YOU! What do you think?
